Here is a simple craft older children can do to contribute towards preparing your home for guests as you gather to celebrate the best news ever – He is risen!

Supplies

  • Scissors
  • 3 sheets of Construction Paper
  • Twine or Ribbon
  • Hole Puncher
  • Markers

Instructions:

Begin by folding your construction paper length wise.

Next, fold in half long ways.

Now cut along the lines, or fold twice then tear gently. Now you have 4 banner cards. Repeat these steps for the remaining 2 sheets of construction paper.

Make a stack of all the banner cards, adjusting as needed until they sit together evenly. Next,

Stacking all the cards on top of each other as evenly as possible, punch holes in the upper corners. Then using a marker, write “HE IS RISEN”, one letter per card, in whatever style of writing you prefer. Based on using three sheets of construction paper, you should have 2 extra cards, so if you mess up, you will have 2 back up’s ready.

All that’s left to do is string the cards on the twine or ribbon to hang up your banner! Before stringing up the cards, consider laminating for durability.

Estimate the length of twine or ribbon you’ll need by stretching it across your desired location, then pull out a bunch of extra to have ready should you need it. Once all the banner cards are on the twine or ribbon, hold it up to the desired location to check your spacing. Lastly, make a loop then secure with a knot on each end to hang your banner.

Happy Resurrection Weekend friends!
